How to write a CV as a fresher
No job history yet? A clear one-page CV built around education, projects and skills still gets shortlisted.
Keep it to one page
Recruiters spend under a minute on a first screen. A fresher CV should fit on one A4 page.
Use one clean template, one font and consistent dates. Fancy graphics rarely help.
Start with a short profile
Write two or three lines saying what you studied, what you are good at and the role you want.
Example: "Commerce graduate with Tally and Excel skills, looking for an accounts assistant role in Pune."
Put education and projects first
List your highest qualification first, with institution, year and marks or CGPA if they are good.
Add college projects, internships, apprenticeships or volunteer work. Describe what you did and the result, in one line each.
Show real skills
Group skills into technical (Excel, Python, AutoCAD) and languages (English, Hindi, Marathi).
Only list skills you can discuss in an interview. Interviewers often test one at random.
Final checks
Use a professional email address and a phone number you answer.
Save as PDF unless the employer asks for Word, and name the file with your name, for example Priya-Sharma-CV.pdf.
